Support & Hosting Contracts
Important note: As of May 2012, support and hosting contracts are only available to students or graduates of our programs, and to members of the WordPress Learning Management System. The reasons are: (1) this is primarily intended as a compellingly-priced value-added service to our existing customers, and (2) many support questions can be answered by giving links to our comprehensive WordPress Help System, which requires a membership.
Why purchase a WP Academy Support / Hosting Contract?
WP Academy support services are just a few bucks per month more than traditional hosting, and give you full support for all your WordPress sites. This includes things that are usually not covered in regular hosting contracts, such as recovery from hacker attacks, php and database errors on your site, simple theme customization issues, internet marketing advice, security assessment of your site, and $100 of professional backup software. By purchasing a support contract and/or hosting all your sites with us, you can have peace of mind that your WordPress sites are going to be supported, backed-up and secure (if your WordPress site is not backed-up and secure, you are asking for trouble). Some of our customers choose to host their sites elsewhere but still maintain a support contract in order to access our support services (we support sites hosted elsewhere as well under this plan).
In addition, an active support contract is required to use our extremely affordable Virtual Assistant and Outsourcing Services.
Here is what is included in this compelling subscription package:
Support & Software
- Ticket support for all your hosting issues, with 24 hour (next business day) turnaround and a pager number in case of emergency.
- Ticket support for many WordPress and internet marketing questions and issues, with 24 hour (next business day) turnaround and a pager number in case of emergency. If necessary we’ll sign-on to your site and attempt to fix the problem. No other low-cost hosting company supports WordPress plugin or theme issues –this puts WP Academy in the range of managed WordPress hosting, that usually costs $50/mth and up.
- Disaster recovery services for WordPress including hacked sites, PHP & database errors etc.
- We will install and license a free copy of Backup Buddy Software on up to 5 of your sites to ensure proper backup, either under your hosting or ours. This is the web’s premiere WordPress backup solution. A good backup, stored off-site, is essential for disaster recovery and protection from hackers, and in this way we don’t take any chances. Your license will be valid so long as you maintain an active support contract. We request you open either an Amazon Web Services or DropBox account for storing the backup, but this should either be free or very inexpensive.
- We will perform (at your request) a Security / Vulnerability Assessment of your sites, at your request at every 6 months. This includes updating your WordPress and all plugins, and checking for major known vulnerabilities such as incorrect directory permissions, etc.
Hosting
- “Virtually unlimited” domains, disk and bandwidth (see Usage Policy). Host all your websites under this plan.
- Hosting powered by Hostgator, one of the largest and most reliable hosting companies on the planet. 99.9% uptime guarantee.
- Your own cPanel (control all aspects of your hosting and emails, and cancel the service / move out your sites any time)
- We’ll move your current website(s) to our hosting at no charge
Limitations on Support (Important)
- We prefer to support you through our ticket system rather than telephone. However in case of emergencies or difficult situations, feel free to call. If you need live support primarily however, you should join the WordPress for Business Course
- Support contracts are not designed for teaching you WordPress. In such an event we will direct you to the appropriate article or resource inside our very comprehensive WordPress LMS.
- We do not guarantee resolution of theme-specific questions, plugin problems, CSS bugs on your theme, etc. For this you will need to use the support system created by the theme or plugin vendor. We will, however, login to your site and provide general guidance, which is often all that’s required (“second pair of eyeballs”). If we determine that your support request is beyond scope, we may direct you to our very affordable outsourcing services, that are only available to support contract clients.
- WP Academy hosting is not suitable for sites requiring more than 10GB of disk space or 100k visitors per month. If you need a lot of disk space however, you can easily pair up a WP Academy hosted site with an Amazon Web Services account.
- Support contracts do not cover events that occurred prior to the subscription. For this we charge hourly $25/hr with an initial non-refundable $75 fee.
